Launched in June 2025, the Sunset Music Series has quickly become one of Joburg’s most highly-anticipated outdoor concert experiences for both the young & young at heart! South Africa’s much-loved trio, Mi Casa, bring their unmistakable sound to the Sunset Music Series for summer. Since their debut in 2011, the band – comprising J’Something (vocals), Dr Duda (producer/keyboardist), and Mo-T (trumpet) – have become synonymous with modern African music, blending house, soul, jazz, and Afro-pop into a genre all their own.
A line-up of guest supporting artists will be announced soon.

And Beyond is a picnic-style festival where smooth sounds meet a stunning backdrop for the Sunset Music Series. Curated by broadcaster and music tastemaker Nothemba Madumo of 4Ever Jazz, the line-up showcases some of South Africa’s finest talent across jazz, soul, and R&B.
The concert is headlined by Zoë Modiga, whose soulful voice and artistry have captivated audiences worldwide, alongside the silky harmonies of the Jaziel Brothers. Jazz giants Paul Hanmer and McCoy Mrubata bring decades of mastery, while rising star Rorisang Sechele injects fresh energy into the mix.

The Sunset Music Series brings a powerhouse double bill as two of South Africa’s most popular acts share the stage for a one-of-a-kind concert under the Jozi skies.
Afrikaans rock outfit Spoegwolf are known for their poetic lyrics, electrifying live performances, and a sound that bridges alternative rock with soulful storytelling. Joining them is none other than Kurt Darren, the undisputed “Prince of Afrikaans Pop”, whose infectious hits and high-energy stage presence have made him a household name for over two decades.
Need to know before you go
Planning your visit to the Sunset Music Series at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden? Here’s what you need to know to make the most of your picnic-style evening. Guests are welcome to bring along their own food in picnic baskets or bags, as well as comfortable camp chairs & blankets for lounging on the lawn. Small umbrellas may be used, but to ensure clear views for everyone, these must be set up at the back of the venue.
Please note that cooler boxes, glass items, tables & gazebos are not permitted. To maintain a relaxed & family-friendly atmosphere, children under the age of five enjoy free entry.
We recommend you arrive early to settle in at a spot of your choice underneath the trees.
- No Own Drinks Allowed | Bars will be provided.
- Your Own Food & Picnic Baskets or Cooler Bags are allowed.
- We will have limited food vendors on site.
- No Hard Cooler boxes or Glass is allowed.
